Intense Pulse Light Photofacials
Intense Pulse Light, also called IPL or Photofacials, is a proven method for treating photoaged skin. At Eden Medispa, we use the Lumenis Quantum, one of the most advanced IPL systems available.
IPL technology improves the appearance of photoaged skin, removes aged spots (sun-induced freckles), most benign brown pigments, and redness caused by broken capillaries through a process called photorejuvenation for face and body. IPL can also be very effective for treatment of visible blood vessels and skin changes caused by rosacea, a skin condition characterized by facial redness. In this case, IPL treatments target the redness in the skin by targeting the hemoglobin in the red blood cells that cause the skin changes associated with rosacea and can significantly reduce redness.
This process is ideal for patients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no or little downtime and has a low risk of side effects. The gentle, non-ablative treatments use broad spectrum light to treat the face, chest, neck and hands—virtually anywhere that sun damage shows.
A broad spectrum of light is transmitted through a small, smooth transparent handpiece which is gently placed over the skin. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the melanin (when treating for pigmentation) or the blood (when treating vascular lesions or redness). The body's natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance. For best results, we usually recommend a series of 4 to 6 treatments.
